The flooring industry has been dramatically altered over the past decade. Where carpet used to reign king, a new heir to the throne has awoken. Luxury Vinyl Planking has swept the market and became one of the top-selling products in homes and commercial business today. Not only does luxury vinyl planking look great, but its low maintenance and extremely durable. Even with its low maintenance and durability, there are still some simple guidelines for keeping your floors like new for years to come. To help consumers keep their LVP in great condition, we focused a few rules. Let’s take a look!
Keeping the surface of your floors clean is imperative. Dust and dirt can slowly scratch the surface area causing wear. Though Luxury Vinyl Planking is exceptionally durable, keeping it well-swept can help with your floor’s longevity.
Almost all Luxury Vinyl Planking today comes with a waterproof barrier. Swiffer cleaning your floor can help keep it looking like new. That being said, make sure to check with your flooring representative/manufacturer on what products to use with your vinyl planking.
Do Not Wax; Apply Acrylic
You can use an acrylic finish on most Luxury Vinyl Floorings; however, general floor wax like carnauba is not recommended. When applying your acrylic wax, do not get a high-powered buffer because it may damage your floor. Instead, use a low-speed buffer to help bring out the floors original glow.
Be cognitive that though these floors are more durable than most hardwoods or tile floors, they can still gouge and scratch. If you do get scratches, you can replace the board with extras by uninstalling and replacing it. You can also try a scratch pen to fill in the scratch and hide it from the eye. Also, you will want to be careful when moving furniture and shifting heavy objects on this type of flooring. Treat your luxury vinyl with love and care to prolong its life.
Simply put, Luxury Vinyl Planking is easy to maintain. This is one of the reasons it has made a substantial change in the market and become one of the best sellers.
